Product notities

Paul Moeller creates astonishingly melodic music. Years ago, his piano teacher would smack his hand when he strayed from the written notes. Paul continues to stray... expanding his musical horizons and his songwriting craft. Twelve of his finest compositions are included on his most recent release "Aurora". Paul's commentary on the inspiration behind these pieces: Aurora ? After 20 years together, Jen and Randy decided to tie the knot. Written for the lovely couple, and performed as their wedding processional. Third Blossom ? My plant sat placidly dormant for many months. Suddenly, buds... and then blossoms... began to appear. One by one. Orchids are amazing! Mary Gale ? Inspired by the quiet, pre-dawn calm of a cool summer morning and the love that fills my home and my life. The First Full Day of Summer ? A tribute to the longest day, and all that it brings. Spirit Whisper ? Sometimes we need solitude to be able to hear our own inner voice. Getting outside and running in the early morning helps me to focus on what's really important in my life, and provides me the space to listen for the whispers. Flight ? As I sat on my apartment balcony listening to the sounds of the early evening, and watching the sky slowly changing colors, the crows and gulls put on their show - swirling, diving and soaring... Mothers Day ? It was Mothers Day. I had just watched a program about the Ukrainian figure skater, Oksana Baiul, who, at age 16 had won an Olympic gold medal. Just three years earlier, her mother had died - and she found herself orphaned and homeless. Ultimately, she rose above the tragedy and managed to fulfill a life's goal. Already awash with the complex feelings that any holiday or memorable date brings, I was moved by the sadness and beauty of her story. Radiance ? She showed up at my door to restart my pilot light. It's still glowing. Far Away ? When our life has been touched by someone's presence, they will never be far away. Resolution ? I love this word - it has so many connotations and meanings. First Dance ? Do you remember yours? Dakota ? In November 2007, I was able to fulfill two dreams - to finally visit New York City, and to run in the NYC Marathon... one of the most amazing experiences of my life. After an early morning ferry ride, past the Statue of Liberty, to Staten Island, I joined 37,000 people from every US state and over 100 countries on a 26.2 mile journey beginning with a run across New York Bay on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, continuing thru Brooklyn, The Bronx and Harlem, and culminating in Central Park. The whole city embraces this event - millions of spectators line the route to create an astonishing communal experience. Among the many enchanting aspects of NYC, I fell in love with the beauty, history and diversity of Central Park. After finishing the race, I made my way out of that magnificent park and met up with Mary. I was exhausted and exuberant. She wanted to capture the moment with a photo. We headed across the street, and I stood in front of an ornate iron gate as Mary took my picture. At that moment, I suddenly realized that not only was I in front of The Dakota - the building where John Lennon had lived for many years, but I was actually standing at the very spot where he had been shot and killed. In that one powerful, ironic instant, I was overwhelmed by more emotions than I can even begin to catalogue. This song is a reflection of that transcendent moment in my life- honoring the one voice that was silenced and the many that were awakened by his music, his message and his memory. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About Paul: Growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio, Paul Moeller inherited his wide-reaching love of music from his dad, who was prone to have classical, country, pop, showtunes and god-knows-what-else all stacked up on the same turntable. As a youngster, he learned to play piano, studying at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music under Ilona Voorm - a Bela Bartok protégé, and soon started composing original tunes. During those rebellious teenage years, he taught himself to play the guitar, and continued writing songs, performing at a wide variety of events. Along the way, he also acquired a 12-string guitar and developed a distinctive and hypnotically percussive playing style. In the mid-90's he began writing, arranging and performing music with Ginny Frazier, who recorded with world-renowned musician Peter Buffett, and performed on the Disney 'Pocahontas' movie soundtrack. Together, they founded the group Circles & Arrows, and explored music that fused folk, blues and rock with traditional African and Native American instruments. Paul arranged and produced their debut album, 'Adopted Strangers', which received enthusiastic critical acclaim, and was selected as one of the top local recordings of 1998 by the Cincinnati Post ( ..."a stunning and intriguing album"). Mike Breen of City Beat described the work as "Beautiful, lilting songs that soar with spirituality...captivating and often hypnotic...'. One song from the CD, 'Hidden Heratige' was rerecorded by Peter Buffett, and featured on his 'Spirit Dance' CD (Hollywood Records) At the dawn of the new millenium, Paul relocated to the San Diego area where he established new roots and continued his creative pursuits. It's been a very fruitful decade. In 2009, while managing to keep his fingers plugged into his classical roots (it's theraputic), Paul has released his first compilation of hauntingly beautiful instrumental pieces, entitled 'Aurora'. It's hard to describe or categorize Paul's music... Inspired songwriting. Uplifting melodies. True talent!
