Product notities

I love great songs and great songwriters. I enjoy songwriting that is creative and lyrics with meanings that are not too obvious. Most importantly, great songs have that magic intangible...they touch your soul. Along with that I love nice guitar work. If some of the songs on Red Dirt Road hit those targets, I'll be thrilled. What We Should Have Done is a song about walking through middle age without regrets of all the things I wish I had done, but didn't when the chance was there. Slow Down is the major theme in my life these days...My pace of life in this culture is so ridiculously fast that I sometimes forget that God actually created us with a soul to be nurtured and paid attention to. Prevailing Winds. "What good is it if a man gains the whole world and forfeits his soul?" -Jesus Change of Pace is the sister song to "Slow Down". Who hasn't looked at themselves in the mirror and said "Man, I need a vacation"? Red Dirt Road (Song for Mozambique) Wrote this in the Spring of 2010 after spending some time in Mozambique. We spent 15 hours driving through the Mozambican bush, through remote villages and over dirt roads. Truly amazing to observe these people for whom everyday is a fight for survival. Proceeds from every download of this song will be donated to World Vision for African relief. Eye of the Needle. Another song about wealth, priorities and our supreme affections in life. Just Want You Home. We all have friends and family-and sometimes ourselves -who have wandered far off track. A song to sing while we wait for them to return home. Lines Get Blurred. When right and wrong doesn't seem crystal clear, love is never a bad route to take. A Thousand Reasons. If you've ever stood at a fork in the road with a major decision to make, you know the long conversations you have with yourself. Here's mine. What Can I Do For You? Written in Salzburg, Austria in 1996. Played this live for years. It's great to finally record it. Dan Lampton adds mandolin and Dave Tyra serves up a great guitar solo. Soul Combine. If I could play in any band it would be Crazy Horse, Neil Young's backing band when he's rocking out. I was thinking of Neil and Crazy Horse circa 1978's "Rust Never Sleeps" when I wrote this. A Life. In a world that love celebrities, the most influential people in my life are those who faithfully and anonymously serve Christ and people and are "unremarkable in many ways". The world is changed by such people, and I aspire to be one. Paul Bertsch October, 2010.
