Product notities

Otis Coen Biography I began my musical experience in Norco California taking classical piano lessons at the age of six, and was a four year member of the California Musicians' Guild. In 1967 my family moved to Capitola California. It was there I began to understanding how to play the guitar, bass, four string banjo, and mandolin. My mainstay was to play multiple keyboards, and emulate my keyboard hero Rick Wakeman of Yes. As the 70s ended, I was able to develop my keyboard style in a progressive rock band called Broken Road. The band released an extended play record that received air play on local Central California radio stations KOME, KSJO, and KDON, and was voted in1981"Most Popular Band" by the Santa Cruz Good Times and Metro San Jose. Right after Broken Road disbanded, I started a four piece group that was know for their "Tribute to Led Zeppelin", COENcidence was the name and the band, and we opened shows for: Pat Travers, Three Dog Night, Buddy Miles, Caned Heat, Pat Simmons of the Doobie Brothers, Lydia Pense and Cold Blood, Les Dudek, Robin Trower, The Medflys, Hot Tuna, Nova, The Tubes, Mahogany Rush, and many others. After loosing my voice from singing Led Zeppelin for several years, I sold out to play with a Top 40 band five nights a week. Road work was a large part of the bands booking, so I often found myself traveling across the United States, from Eugene Oregon to Hobbs New Mexico. As the 90s came around, I was working as the keyboardist and manager for Santa Cruz based Motown band Touch and my own group The Escalators. While working with both the Motown bands, I partnered with a friend and started a recording studio using an old school reel to reel. This experience enabled me to learn engineering techniques, hands on. Within the first few years of the studios opening, my partner and I along with other fellow musicians recorded a water conservation song and a theme song for Perry Stone of KSJO. The water conservation song was played on rotation on south bay area radio stations, and received a commendation from the office of the Mayor of San Jose. Today I am believer in recovery from drugs, alcohol, and co-dependency and have stayed clean from all of it including cigarettes as of January 2nd of 2000. None of this is of my own doing but because of what God has done through me. After four decades of playing music professionally all over the bay area, and across the country, I now dedicate myself to playing keyboards for a local worship teams in Santa Cruz. Together we lead worship at local churches, play outreach events, and minister in the California prison system. I enjoy producing Christian, concerts, toy drives at Christmas and fundraisers for noble causes. My heart of service is to bring hope through music to the lost where ever that may be. My other passion is to promote and produce struggling Christian musician's and their music in my recording studio in Aptos, California. But the real wealth I have is in the relationship with my family and friends. But most of all I am thankful for the relationship I have with my higher power Jesus, for He has taken me, and all the things I have done wrong in my life, to use for His glory. He has freed me by paying the ultimate price and now, I can be used to serve Him by serving others. All things are possible through accepting Jesus as your higher power and working the twelve steps. This CD was seven years in the making and reflects my love for my higher power, the Twelve Steps, and brothers and sisters in the program. Thanks for reading and listening! Otis Coen.
