After his partner is killed, maverick Chicago cop Eddie Jillette (Richard Gere) follows the murderer to New Orleans with hopes of getting revenge. His arrival in the Big Easy is complicated by his encounter with Michel (Kim Basinger), a sultry Cajun beauty who is the mistress of the crime kingpin who is his target.
