I Stayed Up Late to Make This EP on CD

Many artists struggle to release a first record that is balanced by strong and innovative production and a maturity of sound and writing. Adam Day's "I stayed up late to make this" EP does just that. The five-song EP strikes a wonderful balance of fine songwriting a youthful sound and beautifully musical performances. Short and sweet, "I stayed up..." leaves you wanting more. With opening tunes like "Rain," and "Driving Away..." you'll find yourself smiling and tapping your foot to the piano-driven-pop and quietly contemplating some of your most difficult "goodbyes" or your favorite autumn memories. But that's just what the music of Adam Day does: the melodically fresh tunes evoke a wash of emotions - happiness, loneliness, nostalgia, and excitement are all visited with a childish charm and a voice wise beyond it's years. "Welcome In" provides a wonderfully charged indie-pop rocker that will no doubt get stuck on repeat on afternoon windows-down drives. The latter half of the record includes introspective songs of longing and lost love. "Sincerely, Me" is a hauntingly raw track that will put you in the driver's seat and will rouse powerful emotions as quickly as it will set them at ease. Definitely worth the listen - these songs will leave you feeling moved and comforted. At a startlingly young age, 22-year-old Adam Day captures, with seeming ease, some of the most raw and vulnerable of human moments and emotions and delivers that snapshot imagery with a voice as smooth and sweet as honey and as strong as smoke from a winter fire. Reminiscent of James Taylor, John Mayer, Jason Mraz, The Weepies, and Ray LaMontagne - this record is a must for lovers of singer/songwriters.
