This CD is the second in our Songs of Hope series. Many wonderful people contributed to the recording of these songs. Following are some interesting tidbits about each song. 1. A Little Child Shall Lead Us - Thank you to our nieces for giving this song it's sweet innocence: Michelle Desmond for the reading; Shauna Murphy, Kristen and Brenna Desmond for the chorus; and Shauna for your exceptional solos. Surely God has a plan for your beautiful gifts! 2. Born for Greatness - Inspired by Mary's Magnificat, this was written as a theme song for Dad Zuniga's seminar by the same name. Dad, in your service to God as an international spiritual motivator, you have shown us the true meaning of greatness. 3. Dios Por Delante - A blessing we learned from Lloyd's Dad in Spanish meaning, 'May God go ahead of us' inspired this song which we arranged Mexican mariachi style. Thanks to our friends Mike & Brenda McCalley for providing the perfect scripture reading to accompany it. 4. For Today and Always - This song, used here by permission, was written in 1977 by Mary's grandmother Elsie Shimer and Bruce Prince-Joseph, former pianist with Leonard Bernstein and the N.Y. Philharmonic. Grandma, we dedicate this new folk rendition by your granddaughter and great-granddaughter to your loving memory. Thanks to our niece/godchild, Brianne Murphy for the reading and the angelic harmony duet. We want to hear more of you! 5. In God We Trust - Written as a tribute to our nation after 9/11, we call on God to be our strength and to keep us united. President Bush and Rudy Giuliani received copies of this song and their letters of thanks are framed in our studio. 6. In My Father's Eyes - Paul Zuniga, thank you for lending us your expertise on classical Spanish guitar for this special song. How appropriate to have two brothers working together on a song about the Prodigal Son! 7. The Lord Will Sing To Me - Thanks to our friend Barbara Saevig, who had this scripture on a calendar in her office, this song blossomed into life. What a joy to imagine that future time and place when the voice of God will sing to you and me! 8. One Day In Your Presence - Joining our soprano and tenor voices in this schola, our gratitude goes to two fine singers: our friend Joan Francis (cantor at Holy Trinity in San Pedro) singing alto and solo verse 3; and uncle/godfather Jerry Shimer (with the renowned St. Charles Borromeo choir in N. Hollywood) doing the reading, solo verse 2 and singing baritone. 9. I Will Lift My Eyes - Many thanks to Joe Adan, who wrote this melody over 20 years ago. When he asked us to write the lyrics, the words of Psalm 121 fit perfectly. We arranged the instruments to be reminiscent of the Renaissance and added three new melodies which culminate in four simultaneous vocal counterpoints. 10. There's Music In My Soul - Clap your hands and raise your voice! There's nothing like the sound of Gospel music! Our gratitude to members of our own Holy Trinity choir in San Pedro for the lively Gospel chorus: Donna Divona, Nancy Andrews, Tom Mooney and Joe Jankiewcz. OUR GREATEST THANKS goes to God, who made us co-creators of life, love and music; our Savior and Friend Jesus Christ who walks with us through life and inspires us with love beyond measure; and the Holy Spirit who whispers in our souls the music of the heavens and the wisdom of the ages. To our parents, Tony & Mayme Zuniga and Pat & Clarice Murphy...our best friends and constant source of love and support, we are grateful for your faith, prayers, wisdom and patience with us on our journey to God. To our large and loving families and loyal friends, we appreciate your encouragement, prayers and the special connection we share with each of you. 7 Angeles Studio ©2003 All rights reserved.
