Product notities

'Original, fresh and downright entertaining approach to modern progressive music' - Dutch Progressive Rock Page 'I Really Love This Album' - Gibraltar Encyclopedia Of Progressive Rock 'Inspiration Beyond Measure' by Suze Merlin - Progressive Area, France 'Zip Tang Has Evolved Into A Great Band!' - RockTimes, Germany 'Original, Fresh and Worth Listening To' - Babyblaue-Seiten - The German Prog Encyclopedia Just For Kicks Music - Germany 'With their third album the Chicago based band is back big time. They've created a grooving mix out of Jazz Rock, Art-Rock, Retro-Rock and Jam-Rock, a beautiful Cocktail which is tasting just great.' 'Musically they are not as weird as Frogg Café, not so over the edge as Umphrey's McGee, but they lurked over the shoulder of a Steven Wilson just a bit and all in all, that balance makes it a special album.' "Feed Our Heads" is purest Progressive Rock in a modern context - that's the way it is supposed to be!' For fans of Zip Tang and new listeners alike, FOH will transport the listener to places familiar yet unknown. The album's opener, I m On My Own, begins with a driving, electronic pulse that underscores primal chants. Closing the album is the Spooky Jam, that includes a haunting siren voice instrumental floating above a sonic hurricane, by the wonderfully talented succulent queen of the elves - Ea Philippa from Copenhagen. Imagine a heavier Pink Floyd with a Metal edge. In between are eight other songs from long, epic psychedelia to short groovilicious rock. There's something here for everyone. The album's title comes from the lyrics of the second track Fine Reds---Feed our heads, up our meds, bring us fine reds--- that eludes to the band's writing process which involves the consumption of some excellent red wine hand picked by their very own sommelier/bassist Rick Wolfe. We estimate a few hundred bottles contributed greatly to the writing, and in some cases possibly prolonged recording. Besides the fine wine, the rest of the lyrics are open to your interpretation and imagination. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered at our own studio, like the previous albums, but with some equipment upgrades and experience gained from the first two efforts. We believe the sound quality is superior and rivals the best commercially produced CDs made on the kind of equipment we can only dream of having someday. Feed Our Heads was written and recorded over a period of almost two years, if you include the seeds of a few songs that were written as far back as 2006, it's been in the making for close to four. Celebrating eight years together, Zip Tang remains, Fred Faller, drums & percussion; Perry Mark Merritt, guitars & vocals; Marcus Padgett, saxophone, keyboards, vocals; and Rick Wolf, bass & vocals. Guest artists on Feed Our Heads include Ea Philippa, vocals and Dave Jelinek, trumpet.
