Tribute to Miyako
In 2009, Yuri Matsuo set out to create a personal album for her mother Miyako, one that would provide comfort and bring back memories of old joy in the final days of her life. The result is a Tribute to Miyako-a musical love letter from a grateful daughter to her late beloved mother. The album's twelve tracks represent some of Miyako's favorite songs, from timeless hymns ("Blessed Assurance," "What A Friend We Have In Jesus) to Bach ("Air on the G String") to the Nino Rota classic from Fellini's La Strada ("Gelsomina"). In addition to Yuri Matsuo's flawless vocals, this tribute features the work of Yoshio J. Maki and Michiko Hill, as well as the talents of renowned jazz musicians Ken Shima and Daisaku Kume. Full of warmth and sincerity, Tribute to Miyako is a heartfelt testament to the eternal bonds that connect us the ones we love.
