Yisay Kofi Gad was born, 1985, in the city of Toronto, Ontario, his love for music started when he was just eight years old. Influence by the growing hip hop scene he learned how to beat box. The base of many freestyle circles, Yisay pick up on the rythem and flow of the freestylers very quickly writing small lines and his ability as a beat boxer grew, along with his un-noticed talent. In 2003 when living with his father, his cousin, Kumo Kenyatta of the Toronto Hip Hop group, ONEoak, presented him with a tool that would spark not only his musical growth, but his spiritual evolution and devotion to conscious music. After honing his skills on the production software program, Fruityloops, Yisay, known then as Roc produced over 300 unreleased southern, east coast and west coast Hip Hop and Rap beats. In 2005 as his growth in the faith Rastafai, interest for the Rap scene of that time was fading, his love for music and the growing awareness of the world around him drove Yisay to increase his skill in other forms of music. Gad moved out of Toronto to the small city of Brantford, where his believe in his faith brought to light his conscious writing style. Still unequipped with a lead singer for his productions of Roots music. Frustrated with the lack to fully express his music, in the fall of 2007 Yisay picked up his first guitar. He started to record live tracks with his new talent and instrument play. Gad produced song after song but still with no lyrics to fill his spiritual filled music. Hard times fell on Yisay in the winter of 2008 and was forced to move to the town of Georgetown. With the devotion and love for his conscious message of unity among all living creation taught to him by Haile Selassie I, his drive to better his singing skills to preform his expression caused Yisay Kofi Gad to work hard day and night in his home studio (House of Gad Records) to create his first fully produced, written, and preformed solo album 5 Strings, the first of a 3 album project called Journey of the Visionary to be released in the fall of 2009. In his Debue album, Yisay Kofi Gad hope to capture the ears and hearts of both the industry and fans around the world bringing a unique blend of Reggae music in this era, with songs like 'Vibedehindem' which features the classic reggae sound with a touch of a Rock element.
