WhiteCatPink was created in 2007 to merge elements of EuroPop and Lounge with Electronica. Working with sounds in Ableton Live, the White Cat, who is David Jacoby, blends the lounge chic of Mark Farina with the sophistication of Kraftwerk and the hard edges of Gary Numan. WhiteCatPink claims Serge Gainsbourg, international French Pop icon, as the major driving force of inspiration for this project. Also drawing from the costumes created by Peter Gabriel in the early seventies with Genesis, as well as Ziggy Stardust, Jacoby weaves together an unusual experience in sight and sound. Having gone through several band lineups, WhiteCatPink went solo in 2009, and began performing with a local burlesque troupe to extremely receptive audiences. Currently WhiteCatPink has added guitar and bass to the mix for live performances, for a highly energetic and danceable feel. The LoveBalletGirl EP, released on October 6, 2011, highlights the work of the White Cat, with glossy, streamlined production meeting stellar musicianship in a clean, slick package. Sweet highs flirt with driving bass and electronic beats while live drums and voice blend in, swirling in an array of sonic colors. The songs reflect subjects from Jacoby's love of ballerinas ('Pink Tights') to the urban jungle of the city ('Downtown'), and are sung in both English and French. A must have for lovers of downtempo cool.
