Crank It Up Christmas
OK. So, this is NOT the Christmas album that the world has been clamouring to hear. But, it's the one we've dreamed of publishing And, for that small minority of people that aren't satisfied with the boring and mundane, it's the one they've been missing. Take one extremely talented artist/arranger with a mind bursting with complex harmonies. Add a synth with as yet unexplored musical possibilities. And, then combine them with a hint of the familiar melodies of Christmas. What you get is a unique explosion of music with the vibes of Christmas traditions packaged a whole new way. Some years ago, when I first learned that the principle artist behind Vortangle Synth Studio wanted a career in the music industry, I asked him what kind of music he created. His answer? 'Loud.' And, believe me, he DOES go there. But, along the way, he delivers some of the most complex harmonies and beautiful melodies one could ever dream of hearing. This CD is a combination of both, with surprises rivaling Haydn's Surprise Symphony. 'Little Drummer Boy' is the perfect test of both your hearing and your sound sytem. The melody is delivered down in the sub-sonic range. Some will hear it and others will not. But, for those who can, it is a real kick in the pants. But, one word of warning. Do NOT crank this one up if you live anywhere near a zoo. We haven't tested it. But, we hear that elephants can hear sounds in the sub-sonic range for miles! It seems female elephants communicate their intentions to male elephants using those frequencies and we'd hate to have you open the front door only to be greeted by an amorous male elephant looking for a date! But, these songs are not all woofer shredding bass and drums. At the other end of the spectrum is 'We Three Kings' in a gentle, soulful (but not sappy) style. And, the first cut, 'What Child is This' would feel right at home at in a New York jazz club. The wonderful thing about electronic delivery is that YOU get to choose exactly YOUR favorite style. But, the album is paced well and every song is positioned to complement it's neighbor. This CD may or may not be your cup of tea. But, it's certainly worth exploring every track before making up your mind. In the meantime, I love the way the entire album is paced. I'm playing my copy over and over and over and enjoying every minute of up. CRANK IT UP!!! And, ENJOY!!! Have a very merry Christmas. Tom Meeks SynthéMotivo.
