Back to Clearlake Oaks
The paternal Blues act, 2XG, returns to the scene with a new mix of Blues, Funk, and a touch of Dance Club Beat. The album, 'Back To Clearlake Oaks' is about the duo stating their case, right from their hearts, about themselves and their music. Themes we can all relate to: Party Time, Love, Pride, Home, and those beautiful old-time Blues. Joining them in the studio this round for several tracks, two superb and well traveled musicians, Robert Watson on bass guitar, and Billy 'Shoes' Johnson on drums. Rob's bass lines come across both sweet and savory at moments, with plenty of flash, but always in the groove. Rob is both funky and bluesy at the same time in his jazz fusion sound, performing on tracks, 'The Blues Don't Bother Me', 'Angel of Mercy', 'Back To Clearlake Oaks', 'Samba Dos Indios', 'I Wanna Know', 'Let Me Tell You 'Bout My Babe', and 'Shake Your Hips'. Billy's drums drive the songs, laying out the beat and sending the dynamics sky-high or down-to-the-ground, and all points in between. Billy appears on, 'Angel of Mercy', 'Back To Clearlake Oaks', 'Samba Dos Indios', 'Let Me Tell You 'Bout My Babe', and 'Shake Your Hips'.
