Transfiction Was Here
OMG! Thank god you're here! Emerging with a bloody howl from "The Fighting City" of Albuquerque's ruptured asphalt bleeding heart, comes an act with a sound and look and attitude unlike anything else in the rock n' roll world today! All over the Great State of New Mexico, music fans and industry insiders alike are pushing the fader knobs on their voices miles past the clip point in a killer-bee clamor demanding the immediate and international coronation of these mad, ravenous heirs to their rightful place upon the stained, porcelain throne of pop! And who exactly is this group responsible for invoking such feral hysteria and devotion across the American Southwest? ...WE DON'T KNOW EITHER!!! But until that band gets around to sending you their unsolicited material; here's ours! Hi, we're TransfRictioN! =D 'BIO' TRANSFRICTION: Albuquerque's Gangsta Clown Punks Formed in early 2008 by guitarist Jeff Commissaris (24), singer Marq Blackbird (27), bassist Derek Garcia (28) and drummer Lonnie McKnight (27); TransfRictioN has spent the last year-and-a-half taking the local Albuquerque rock scene by bike, bus and bummed rides! Released in the summer of 2009, the band's debut EP "TransfRictioN Was Here" has been met with Dave's Reviews (see next page) and has already been certified Double Bronze in the U.S! (Jeff's mom had casts made of two copies. They're hanging on her living room wall next to his baby shoes and first doodie.) Capitalizing on the momentum from this CD, TransfRictioN recently kicked off a major, full-scale, no-bars barred tour spanning the entire city! In just under a month, the band has played nearly all 5 of Albuquerque's rock venues, gaining (and receiving citations for) exposure everywhere they've gone and in the process performing their singular 'Gangsta Clown Punk' - style of rock before an audience of literally dozens! Not content to be just another rock group, TransfRictioN is also a registered non-profit organization within the State of New Mexico; dedicated to charitable contributions of money and manpower to important causes like: -Pizzaholics Anonymous -Veterans of World of Warcraft -Adopt-a-Cheerleader So, what's next for TransfRictioN? The answer is simple and inevitable: shameless product endorsement! That's right; whether it's ladies undergarments, political candidates, or energy drinks named after controlled substances, this band knows that in showbiz (as in life); you're only as loved as the crap you're selling! In all seriousness, the IRS has a classification under 'music therapy,' which is a form of rehabilitative health care, into which we fit nicely. After listening to our music, you can't help but feel better about yourself, kNOwing how bad the music is. We'll also be interfering in the political process in such a clearly illegal way you will have no choice but to pay attention to us. Don't make us reclassify ourselves as a Church! You're on notice! But TransfRictioN also knows that for a band to get famous enough to have their faces on lunch boxes and their own action figure line requires more than just four guys going out every night drinking and skirt-chasing and getting arrested; it requires a whole team of people going out every night drinking and skirt-chasing and getting arrested on behalf of that band! And where in the world is TransfRictioN to find such a team? ...That's where you come in! Thanks, Jeff Commissaris * Marq Blackbird * Derek Garcia * Lonnie McKnight TRANSFRICTION Transfriction is a four-piece original rock band compromised of Lonnie McKnight (drums), Derek Garcia (Bass), Jeff Commissaris (guitar), and Marq Blackbird (vocals). They have been a complete group for a year now, and have already played virtually every venue in Albuquerque! Check out myspace.com/transfriction for music and future shows. New paragraph Any place they go (or not) will be because of you, fans listening to and supporting local music. From the fighting city of Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, TransfRictioN is a experimental rock / metal band defining a new sound, from the land of dirt and green Chile. Critics have said they sound nothing like Gangsta Clown Punk, whatever that is supposed to sound like. That's okay, because those same critics don't even own the real CD, only the fake version. Nobody has ever heard of us either. We're also broke all the time. Someday we hope to be able to take off from work long enough to actually tour. We really gotta hustle or we're prolly going to die a slow, painful, lonely death ... in obscurity. Have you ever been to Albuquerque? Some people say you can only take a wrong turn here, but what do they know? 'There is nothing funny about this music,' - Critic #1080.
