Heaven or Hell
This is always a touchy subject, and I don't want to alienate anyone, but this album is a reflection of me moving through various spiritual and religious progressions. Like the previous CD's, it's made up of songs written over the years, with the exception of 'Fate' which was written for this specifically. Some songs go as far back as the 70's. In those days, all I had was an acoustic guitar, singing them live at the Floridian bible school I attended for a year! The idea of this album was to go back and forth between points of view. From a believer to a cynic; from an angel to a devil; from those who are purely fatalistic, to those who have become jaded by organized religion. The overall layout is similar to 'ALL'... a combination of rock and acoustics, with the exception of the title track. 'Heaven or Hell', which is a new-age piece, was recorded direct to cassette in the late eighties. Then, for this CD, I played it into my DAW, and used gain-staging and noise reduction to make it work digitally. The cover artwork I painted, in watercolor, onto the back of a CD jewel case insert in the mid-90's... in the kitchen while I was cooking dinner! Nothing particular in mind when a painted it, but if you look closely, you'll see a devil chasing an angel!
