Skin of Light
This Invitation is a Brooklyn-based experimental rock ensemble founded by Warren Ng and Casey Farnum that combines aspects of minimalism, drone, and noise in elliptical song forms and expanded improvised structures. 'The Skin of Light' (2004) was their first full-length release, which included the tonal-to-dissonant harmonic drive of 'Scratching the Sunlight' and the sepulchral 14-minute 'The Fact of Our Dying.' This Invitation's second full-length, the sprawling double-disc 'Sunless / Ellipses, Lapses, and Collapses,' was released in 2010. Guitarist Ng also released two solo double-disc recordings of free-form guitar drone instrumental works under the name Somnambulists: 'At Daybreak the First Greyness to Emerge' (2010) and 'The Invisible Score' (2010). This Invitation also contributed a track to the compilation CD 'Music for Plants' (PerfectIfOn, 2006).
