For his debut CD, Terence E Jackson has created a project that is takes into consideration the fact that we live in the age of portable sound devices. 'The Instrument' being specifically recorded with the understanding that more often than not, one would be listening to it in a public place where it would need to be played at very a very low volume or through one's headphones. A beautiful dreamlike gem, the album brilliantly weaves together multi-layered vocals, ambient soundscapes, experimental arrangements, & cut and paste instrumentation all the while refusing to be categorized. 'I have worked really hard at shaping this project so that the old and the new form a cohesive whole that feels sincere, organic and fresh to listeners. - All the vocals & instrumentations were recorded in complete takes and slowly layered one on top of the other. This allowed me to really create the songs exactly as I heard them in my head. - I'm just excited to finally be getting it out there and hope people really find a place in their hearts for this album - It truly is quiet music for all those very public spaces we find ourselves filling.'
