Happy Birthday to Us!
Formed in the winter of 2009, three musicians from the local Washington D.C. area decided that they loved music and wanted to try to create their own original ideas. Techniquelle has since then been actively writing music, sharing ideas and creating songs and have been gigging around their area. They've played at venues such as Galaxy Hut, IOTA Club & Cafe, The Red & The Black, The Camel, and Wonderland Ballroom. The female front-singer, Joanne, a Korean-American born in Los Angeles, migrated with her family to the Washington D.C. area at a young age because of her father's employment. She grew up in a very sleepy suburban area with no ambition for any particular thing. It was only later, inspired by friends and people she met along the way, that she decided to write music. What began as a hobby grew into actively seeking out open mic nights, meeting other musicians, and eventually producing her own songs and performing at different venues. Originally doing most of the gigging alone, she eventually met Ben, an actively performing drummer and instructor in the Washington D.C. area, at a gig and started playing shows with him. The two communicated and suggested carving out their own music and space by forming a band. Ben then introduced Aaron, who accomplished writing and producing 'A Walk In The Woods' with his band A Paper Maché Monster. The three became Techniquelle and have been actively working to create unique and original music. Joanne released her own solo project titled 'Outline Of A Cloud' on August 31, 2009. A year later, the band released their exciting new EP 'Happy Birthday To Us!' on August 15, 2010.
