Alma Latina is a blend of several cultures unified in one ensemble, presenting the best in Latin music. Original music in general composed by multi-talented, guitarist, vocalist, percussionist and composer Lazaro Herrera. In 1986, Synthesis was moved to the US and partnered with Jeremiah Nabawi, and African-American friend, together, they initiated the journey and the foundation of today's band. The group gained widespread recognition for exploring various Latin American and Afro-Caribbean rhythms, performing along with top musicians like Graham Nash and Richie Havens. The groups' musical and cultural backgrounds encompass South and Central America, Cuba and the Caribbean, Brazil, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Their unique style rarely leaves audiences sitting, and includes the infectious rhythms of island music such as Calypso, Reggae, and Merengue. Lazaro Herrera has been part of 5 releases from Latin-Jam productions; Synthesis has released 2 albums one produced by Kenny Ulansey and Bobby Morganstein productions. The last release of Synthesis independent label "Alma Latina" which includes mostly original material, is on the market. Synthesis has performed in several major concerts, festivals, dances and events at Penns Landing, as well as the Kimmel center. Other reputable jazz clubs like Zanzibar Blue in Philly and Wilmington, Clubs like Trocadero, Katmandu, Rock Lobster, Egypt, etc, have hosted Synthesis in various events. Synthesis is the essential Pan-Latin band performing on many traditional and contemporary Latin instruments including electric and acoustic guitar, electric keyboards, Latin hand percussion, congas and timbales, bass, drums, horns, and an array of vocal section, the soul of the band. The combined talent of each artist creates and extraordinary blend of music. Along with their tremendous charisma, their voices and songs create a stunning emotional range that has stirred audiences as few performers can.
