Art to Life
The genesis of The Stone Project - Christina and Robert, the Cornerstone of The Stone Project have been musicians from their youth, but from wildly differing musical and social backgrounds. Christina, born and raised in Boulder, CO with a Jazz drummer father (rhythm, rhythm, rhythm) listening to Gordon Lightfoot and the Beatles, playing guitar from age 9 in her bedroom all hours of the night - knew from an early age she was born to play guitar and sing on stage. Robert, raised on a Kansas farm, playing violin in youth orchestra at 9, trumpet in band and jazz ensembles in high school but listening to Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Kansas, Doc Severinson, Chase, The Beatles, and finally progressive rock. Chris first performing as a solo artist, moving to a duo, then a classic rock band, then into a country/bluegrass duo The Better Half with friend Barb Solo for a decade and a half. Robert then picked up the harmonica and joined in with Chris and Barb for several years before Chris felt the need for an evolution of musical style, and Cornerstone was born. This melding of musical styles was enhanced by the contributions of many talented artists in the Colorado musical scene we've had the pleasure of playing with over the years as a duo, trio, and quartet. Though primarily performing as a duo called Cornerstone, Chris and Robert wanted to pull together their tastes in bands and synthesize their own band sound. Assisted by the awesomely talented group of friends who joined them in creating this project, along with the technical skills and insight of Kevin Brookfield of Morningwood Studios in Fort Collins, The Stone 'Project' was born, and we're in love!
