Pieces," Steven L. Smith's follow-up to the critically acclaimed 'Outside of Tupelo," (Vinyl Records 2010) takes you on a musical journey that shows his continued growth and maturity as a songwriter and storyteller. With this album, Steven brings his band The Steven L. Smith Band in to the studio for the first time, providing that live on-stage jam band sound that the band has become noted for, and channeling that raw energy in to each and every song. In addition to his cohorts in crime, Steven had the distinct pleasure of seeking out such luminaries to perform on the album as Crystal Gayle, Jimmy Van Zant, and Joe Bonsall. From the first song to the very last, almost an hour later, you'll begin to feel what it's like to go honky tonkin' on a Saturday night, understand the workingman in detail, and deal with the perils and pitfalls of life and it's many pieces. The Steven L. Smith band is based out of the Adirondack area of upper New York state. Having already garnered success at Americana radio with his previous project 'Outside of Tupelo' which remained on the charts for over 6 months, this album was created to stretch the boundries of traditional music and expand on the themes set forth in his previous work. Steven's writing and live performance has been compared to legends from Michael Martin Murphey and Lynyrd Skynyrd to John Mellencamp, and Don McClean just to name a few. The band is planning on an extensive European and US tour over the next 12 months, and is already getting airplay on both sides of the pond. The listener will be truly delighted and not a bit disappointed in this 14 track album titled, Pieces. The 'Pieces' CD is due to be released March 15 2011.
