New Music from the Steve Cox Trio. Cobalt Blue's first track Bronze and Blue opens with an atmospheric, timeless mood and develops into a Black Sabbath like march. Cellphone Chatter uses a repeating line and suggests a dialogue with guitar, bass and drums. This song features a drum solo. Morning After Blues is a tribute to Johnny Winter and has a bass solo to throw it over the top. Riot in the Park has an aggressive groove that showcases the lead guitar and at one point guitar, bass and drums trade licks in what jazz musicians would call 4's. John Wayne's Pain is hard rock with a slower groove. The guitar solo develops into some of Steve's best playing ever recorded and has a timeless, atmospheric ending to cool things down. The CD has one of Steve's drawings on front and a photo of his Steinberger on the inside. Contact information is on the back cover. 'We make the music our own wherever we draw inspiration from' Steve says. 'Thanks to all the great guitarists who inspired me including Larry Coryell, Al Dimeola, Terry Rypdal, Bill Connors, John McLaughlin, Johnny Winter and the list continues'. Enjoy the upbeat energy.
