Love Bade Me Welcome
'Love Bade Me Welcome' is the young baritone Stephen Lancaster's very first album of sacred songs, which he recorded in Ann Arbor, MI in 2006. The title track, from Ralph Vaughan Williams 'Five Mystical Songs' was recorded at the University of Michigan's Hill Auditorium with the Hill Auditorium organ. It serves as the artistic and spiritual centerpiece for the album, which includes improvised arrangements of favorite hymns and gospel songs (by pianist Larry Jansen), as well as more recent original compositions by classical composers Edwin T. Childs and J. Scott Brubacher. The recording finishes off on a more contemporary note, with modern, contemplative renderings of 'Be Thou My Vision' and Chris Tomlin's 'Take My Life.'
