This diverse yet powerful rock quartet are redefining musical terminology and fast becoming the best-kept secret in the Melbourne music scene. Entertaining, marketable, and undiscovered, with their amazing story and unique take on music, the SOMs are a record company's dream waiting to happen. The story goes... Officially, Sons of Messengers was born in 2005 with the youngest member just sixteen. Their brand of high energy, high voltage and high chance of injury rock (coined by the band as Exploder Rock!) won them their local Battle of the Bands at their first gig, after only a couple of months writing music together! Blown away at this yearly event, the audience, enamoured by the spectacle of two great lead singers, fast solos and a young rocking band, announced that "these guys are the best thing to come out of this event in years". Immediately everyone knew they had that special 'something' that could take a band to the top. On stage, it's not just a few songs - it's a show! They move with an air of reckless confidence and an infectious energy that captivates and moves. With free recording time won and significant earnings from gigs around town, the SOMs went on to record at Studio 52 in Collingwood and released to fans and the music community alike, their debut EP! It is distributed online internationally and can be heard at sonsofmessengers.com or myspace.com/sonsofmessengers. Their star quality, charismatic profiles and all-out-there, crazy image gives them a "wonder what they'll do next" appeal, which brings young fans into their world of excitement and helped win them the Regional Final of the Push Start Battle of the Bands. This delivered them a slot in the Grand Final fought at LUNA PARK as part of the PUSHOVER rock festival '06 headlined by Grinspoon and here they won the APRA AWARD FOR SONGWRITING! More recently, the band has played to large crowds at the Palace Entertainment Complex, smoothly stepping the show up a notch when it was discovered that the headliner had cancelled that day. Airplay on NOVA 100 has also been established, with "See You Again" being used during the Nova 9s daily. These four highly explosive explorers potentially have international appeal and are constantly creating an interesting blend of catchy pop-rock music - with a hard edge and a gritty simplicity that plays well on radio. Audiences and fans alike are starting to catch on to their "different yet likeable sound" with songs that get stuck in your head and are playable over and over again. With their exciting character and ambitious nature, the SOMs are ready. They have a treasure trove of hit songs to go and such potential that everyone will want to know what the SOMs are up to next - keep your eye on the SOMs.
