Snowman-Rna presents: 'Pestilence' 'Pestilence' is a five-song retelling of Edgar Allan Poe's short story 'The Masque of the Red Death'. In the grand tradition of rhyming story-tellers such as Geoffrey Chaucer, this retelling will be told in rhyme form. During the creation of 'Pestilence', some artistic liberties were taken in order to make 'The Masque of the Red Death' more suitable for a poetic musical retelling. The Majority of the songs are coming from the mouth of Prince Prospero. Excerpts from each song's text: Lock Me Down: 'Right now, I don't know what else to say/Except I hope you all find peace in your graves'--Prince Prospero The Stalking of the Dreams: 'Masquerading--sweet deception!/ Awesome form of self-expression!'--Prince Prospero The Ticking of the Ebony Clock: 'Why does this musical, whimsical thing seem diabolical?/ Because it reminds us that we really are not immortal' --Prince Prospero An Unexpected Visitor: 'The real joke is not this suit, so scary, but rather this 'safe sanctuary', and that you though that you'd be safe from that which is every human's fate' --The Visitor A Kingdom of Cobwebs: 'Accomplishments, possessions--do they really matter/ When our skeletons are homes for the spiders?????' -The Ghost.
