After his latest film tanked at the box office, hapless director Man-su found himself stuck with piles of debt and an irresponsibly missing producer. Just when he was also about to make a run for it, he receives a call from the loan shark Bae demanding his debt to be paid immediately. However, instead of the usual gangster treatment he expected to receive, Man-su is met with a curious proposition to settle his debts - stage an elaborate hoax to fool Bae's aging senile father. Old Bae is from North Korea, and has longed to visit his hometown one last in his lifetime. With no other alternatives available, Man-su accepts the threatening challenge to dress up the countryside, hire actors and extras to make their remote locale look like Old Bae's hometown in North Korea. Soon, what started out as an inconvenient necessity eventually unites everyone involved in the project - the nervous Man-su, his young lead actress for this hoax, and the handful of gangster chaperoning the project - in their effort to make an old man's one last wish come true.
