When given the choice of a needle, a gun, or life, would you be strong enough to save yourself and those around you? That is the question posed in Shadow Pointe's latest release, Situations, the follow-up to the widely well-received Reason Beyond Acceptance (RBA). Much like RBA, Situations uses a concept album format to tell a story, any it is quite a dramatic one at that. It follows the life of a woman struggling with her inner demons and choices trying to do the right thing. For those who are not fans of story-based CDs, Situations will appeal as the songs stand on their own and don't need to be listened to within the context of the album. It is clear that Shadow Pointe has grown musically between the last two CDs, as the rhythms, arrangements, and orchestration all show the dedication and love this band has for music. From aggressive tracks to acoustic ballads Shadow Pointe's CDs aim to appear to all rock music fans. While they did not stray from their roots of heavy metal and progressive influences they have successfully continued in taking their signature sound to the next level.
