Frightening All the Dogs
With their latest album, Frightening All The Dogs, Sgian Dubh draws on the band members' individual musical backgrounds - rock, Celtic, bluegrass, punk, and folk - to deliver a unique take on a variety of songs with traditional origins. The album's offerings include pub favorites, songs of rascals and rebels, rowdy musical adventures, and a rock'n'roll sea-faring original! While many of the songs are traditional in source, Sgian Dubh's interpretations can be anything but. From playing traditional instruments in their often 'non-trad' style, to rocking up some 'folky' standards, this engaging band produces an entertaining listening experience on each track. The varied mix of acoustic and electric numbers should offer every listener a choice of favorites! Two bonus tracks are also included on the album, recorded 'live & raw' from the audience at one of the band's favorite pubs. Sgian Dubh is: Susan Cates - vocals, flute, whistles, bass guitar Bruce Roberts - drums & percussion, whistles, harmonica, technopipes, vocals Ray O'Connor - mandolin, banjo, bass guitar, guitar Mike Quigley - acoustic & electric guitars, vocals Ted Simon - fiddle, bass guitar with Elaine Roberts - percussion, vocals.
