Memories of the Future
My name is Russell Hallock and this project was my brain child back in 2002. Originally we were Sacred Sun (started in 2000) and after trading drummers and losing our original bass player, I changed the name to Satyrica. People always ask me what 'satyrica' means. The answer is: it possibly is the oldest book ever written by a man named Petronius. He was the Shakespear of his time and he wrote about the decadence, sexual immorality and coruption of the Roman empire in his day. So not only is it a cool word but I thought the references applied to our modern age. I realized not much has changed since then; just look at former president Clinton's sex scandal, Enron, the Columbine Highschool massacre, 911 and the war in Iraq; the list is endless. A lot of the songs I wrote in this album are my take on some of these dilemmas but I do something that hardly any band in this genre has done. I present a story in which there are answers to these issues. I also promote connecting with your inner voice and your divinity, whatever that is to you. No promotion of religion here, just peace. Actually I rip pretty hard on Christianity in 'Crucified'. Maybe next time I'll go after Islam! MetalNetRadio.com had us listed as #2 on their independent album charts within less than a month of hitting the air waves. And the average listener's rating of the three songs that were in rotation was 8.35/10, truely an awesome appreciation of this totally unknown band. Discover for yourself why. Check out the review by Markus at rockmetalbands.com. He gives a superb overview going song by song and accompanied by his articulate descriptions. With a score of 96/100, he gives it one of the highest ratings ever! Alas, Satyrica is no longer a band. I now live in California pursuing a different sort of music career but the album still sells, even without live performances to promote it. I hope you buy a copy or down load files. Truthfully Yours, Russell Hallock singer/guitarist/keyboardist/lyricist/songwriter/teacher.
