What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?
This is Sandra Y. Johnson's second CD, the first being 'Steppin' Out' and now 'What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life'? Sandra, after working in the Federal Government, retired, completed her Master's Degree in Arts Management, and decided to pursue her dream of singing and performing. Prior to singing jazz and blues, she sang and still sings in the Washington Performing Arts Society's Men & Women of the Gospel Choir that performs annually at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. On this new CD, Sandra employs two bands that showcase eight arrangements by Allyn Johnson (Group I) and the band that will hold the listener spellbound throughout each song that demonstrate a perfect blend of sophistication, sensivity, and fire. Contributing to the uniqueness of this recording is the addition of a second band that showcases four arrangements by Vincent Evans (Group II) and the band with an entirely different flavor. Fueled with raw energy and infectious rhythm, this group lays down musical grooves so strong that your body will move to the beat of it's own accord. 'My first meeting with Sandra was a very pleasant surprise. She released her first CD, 'Steppin' Out', and had recorded one of the songs from our catalog, 'Lend Me Yesterday'. I thought when I heard her voice, that the world of jazz has a new star on the horizon'. (Gloria Lynne, Jazz Recording Artist & Composer) 'With this recording, Sandra has truly come into her own as one of the best jazz singers in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. She has put her entire self into this project--sharing not only her talent, but her thoughts, passions, dreams, and especially her heart'. (Connaitre Miller, Assoc. Professor of Jazz Studies at Howard University, Producer & Vocal Coach) 'Sandra is one of the most versatile and dynamic jazz vocal artists on today's scene. Sandra is equally at home performing blues and R&B. Like Nancy Wilson and Gloria Lynne, Sandra has a vocal style that is uniquely hers alone. Once listeners hear Sandra's voice, they will remember her name'. (Dr. Delener McCarney, Jazz Patron) Enjoy this recording, 'What are You Doing the Rest of Your Life'?
