Skin in the Game
Jerry and Matteus met several years ago. They played together in a five-piece rock band. One day, everybody else missed practice. They went down to Cadillac Jack\'s in Lake City and, after a couple drinks, Samurai Bow was formed. They play a type of American roots music that showcases the electric cello and gritty vocals. Singer-Songwriter J Allen Mitchell is originally from Wyoming. He studied languages in France and Taiwan for a long time. He played for years from Taiwan and Hong Kong to the Seattle area, building an extensive repertoire of original material. He plays a steel-string acoustic guitar with his bare hands. Cellist Matteus Vaga graduated in music from West Chester University in Pennsylvania and is trained classically and in jazz. He has played locally in several bands. His influences range from Finnish folk music through American roots and alternative rock. He plays the 5-string electric cello with a bow (and sometimes with his bare hands.) His cello is an All-American instrument, by the way. Samurai Bow has been playing numerous venues throughout the Seattle area. On May 20, 2008, they finished mastering their full-length album \'Skin in the Game.\' Get it. You\'ll love it.
