'Rocketstar,' Sali's debut album began taking shape in 2003 and is noted for the thoughtful, yet edgy lyrics. Sali Hagan draws inspiration for her music from life experiences. Her upbringing has provided her with the musical roots that allow her to be a versatile and passionate performer. Sali's love of music was impacted while learning to play classical piano from her mother, Rebecca Rountree Harris, a classical pianist turned rocker and by her father, Sheldon Morgenstern, a symphony conductor. Exposed to a diverse musical repertoire, Sali was raised by Rebecca, experiencing life on the road at an early age. Some of her most treasured memories are from tagging along on the tour bus with Rebecca's band, 'Raw Honey.' After working as a dj at WKDF in Nashville, and McGathy Promotions in New York, Sali moved to Atlanta, started writing and hooked up with one of Atlanta's most amazing bands. It's no surprise that Sali's experiences have left her with an eclectic taste in music. Her favorite artists include Stevie Wonder, Mothers Finest, Peter Gabriel, Rickie Lee Jones, Elvis Costello, Tracy Bonham and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
