Sonatas and meditations - music for violin and guitar.Music for violin and guitar. In Baroque music, the Sonata was seen for the first time. In the 20th century the Sonata was said to be dead. The meditation as a piece of music disappeared after the era of Baroque and reoccured in modern times. On this CD, as in the concert program, we juxtapose sonatas and meditations from both eras. Some sonatas are just that: sonatas (Vivaldi), some include mediation (as the Fugue in Bach's sonata), some mediations are just that: a meditation (Pflüger, Dinescu), an other one is mediation and passacaglia at the same time (Biber). Hirschfeld's Sonata is featuring baroque patterns as Fuga, Rondo, Dinescu's Satya is a free flow of sound and vibrations. This album not only puts those pieces on one CD but it creates an intense musical picture by carefully combining pieces and thus revealing differences as well as fellow characteristics. C. René Hirschfeld (vl.) and Sebastian Albert (guit.) are playing this music with great sensitivity in sound and suggestive musical intensity. René Hirschfeld and Sebastian Albert have been friends and musical partners for quite a while. I'm 2000 C. René Hirschfelds piece "Nachtstück" for two guitars was awarded in the competition for guitar compositions at the Göttinger Gitarrenfestival. Sebastian Albert then was one of the two musicians who played the work at the final concert of the festival. Since then, Sebastian played the Nachtstück as well as René's work Herbststück for guitar solo in numerous concerts. In 2008 the two musicians launched their first fellow concert program "Sonatas & Meditations", which you have on CD here, in 2009 'Lyrics' came out as concert program, published on CD in 2010. For the future there are planned several new projects as well.
