One Empty Chair
When Rob Gillespie returned to Charleston, WV after touring the U.S. and Canada, Ron Phillips approached him, then seized the opportunity to contact some former musician friends in the quest for playing rock music. This album is a result of the fun and excitement shared on Rutledge Road, where rehearsals eventually developed warm-up jams into original songs beckoning for recognition. Rob, our primary musical director, passed away in February 2009, much to our sorrow. It had been a short-lived reunion of old friends, who had shared a rich past playing music together in various bands. He spent his last days pouring his soul into this music; his inspiration survived. Although Rob never had the pleasure of hearing the finished product, the surviving members pledged to honor the promise our drummer made to him before his death, that we would see to it that his music would be heard. With help from our friends, Larry King, Tim Sypolt, and Robin Romeneck, we completed the album with music and lyrics he didn't get to hear. This album is dedicated to his memory, from which it's title is derived.
