I sing the way I do, mainly, I'm sure, because of Minnie.... Minnie was a poor woman who had no home. My immigrant grandmother, who lived in a cold water flat in the late 20s, took her in and in return for 'bed and board,' Minnie helped my grandmother and became part of the family. My first memories are of Minnie...holding me and encouraging me to sing as she did... 'Come on baby, sing like Minnie...' ...and so it went. Seven decades later... Here I am...
