Totally Acoustic & Original
"Elementary Teacher" was written about a 4th grade school teacher from the San Francisco Bay area that I met on a flight from Oakland, CA to Portland, OR. We totally connected on the flight, talking from time she sat down in the seat next to me until we landed at the Portland airport (PDX). The connection we had in conversation inspired me to write about what I know about her. Unfortunately, I do not know her name; thus, the lyrics "I never got your name." "Iceberg The Wolf Dog" was a hybrid 85% white artic wolf dog that I took care of for a friend of mine for about a year. Iceberg and I became great friends during that year but being the 2-3 year old that he was, Iceberg was a handful to look after. He had so much energy. One afternoon when I came home, Iceberg had totally shredded a couple of pillows. The floor to the room was filled with all the white fluff from the pillows. It looked like an avalanche had hit. I took one look at Iceberg and said, "Iceberg, you should have been named Avalanche" which became part of the lyrics in the song. "One Lonely Sparrow" tells the story of the plight of the Dusky Seaside sparrow which was declared an extinct species in 1990. Mankind destroyed it's habitat in Florida. The song is dedicated to "Orange Band" the last known Dusky Seaside sparrow on earth who died in 1987. As I wrote on the album's back cover, 'May the story of the Dusky Seaside sparrow be ever told but never repeated. And may God, in His mercy, forgive us'. The song was selected as a finalist/honorable mention in the 2008 Sandra James Music Foundation's songwriting contest. The "Ode To Sandra James" is a tribute to the very gifted and talented singer-songwriter - Sandra James. Sandra died of cancer in 2004. I got to know Sandra through her music and the information provided on the Sandra James Music Foundation's website. As I wrote this song, I pictured Sandra as I do now, riding wild, wild horses, singing her songs of peace, love, joy and hope; and, bringing glory to the God of our universe. The song was the top finalist in the 2009 Sandra James Music Foundation's songwriting contest. "Click And Send" is a song about two people, miles a part that communicate to each other mainly by email. It's a lover's scenario. The man comes home after work, has dinner and then sits down at his computer and writes to his sweetheart. The lyrics recap some of the places they've been when together: the Florida ocean side, the beautiful Montana Mountains, the big windy city - Chicago and one of their favorite past times, sitting in a movie theatre together. Enjoy the music!
