Polka Lust from Otter Creek
This recording is a polka and waltz collection of original melodies and arrangements. It features four different diatonic 4-row button accordions. The music has roots in central and eastern European traditional polka and waltz dance music dating from the 19th century. These songs are 21st century versions of the older style music although much of the musical form and even a lot of the instrumentation is the same. The accordion is the principle focus of the music; it is supported with drums, guitar, piano, bass, and sometimes tenor sax. Four of the tunes are vocals. This music stems from celebrations of life like weddings and parties where dance is a part of the activity. When this music is played live, it is always most successful when people dance to it. It really is not concert music for people sitting in chairs. Nonetheless, the music is also quite enjoyable as an audio treat although when driving a car it can cause one to drive faster than normal.
