About Rolf Ableiter: 'It is as if you would stop the madness for a moment,' an enthusiastic listener wrote after the band's concert at the DEW21 Jazz Festival in Dortmund, Germany. With the two productions 'Silent Songs' and 'Silent Songs live' Rolf Ableiter went on a search for the melancholic heart of music. The result is an exceptionally quiet, slowly breathing music, which contrasts the highly engineered everyday life with simplicity. Press release 'silent songs' Several years ago the Norwegian duo 'Kings of Convenience' proclaimed the slogan 'Quiet is the new loud' and started a quiet but fierce and long lasting countermovement to guitar rock and electronic music. In Germany nobody picked up and developed this trend as consequently as Rolf Ableiter with his 'Silent Songs'. Be it in his own pieces or in hauntingly reduced cover versions of Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan or Alex Harvey: the Karlsruhe based singer, composer and producer dispelled anything complicated out of his music. What remains is the pure and intense desire for great songs with perfect melodies. Presented with such a warmth and intimacy as only a club atmosphere can provide. Elements of Pop, Folk, Jazz, Blues, and Country merge lightly and quietly in this kind of music. Carried by a voice, which by the first tone comes so near that you just want to follow it through the rest of the evening.
