The second of a series of CDs of inspiring melodies from Roger Hewett. Ballet Fantastique contains 40 unrepeated tracks of original, orchestrated music for ballet class. Divided into 3 sections for barre, centre and, as in Ballet Elite, a large selection of charming variations for more freestyle choreography. Performed initially on piano, each piece starts with a preparation which is easy to feel and count. The orchestrations add a new dimension, giving richness and depth to the music and drawing the dancers towards a more musically inspired performance. Roger Hewett began his association with dance at the age of 16 when he accompanied ballet, tap and modern classes in his hometown city of Norwich, in the east of England. He then worked as pianist for the renowned Laine Theatre Arts in Epsom, south of London. Now living in Canada, Roger has played for l'École supérieure de danse du Québec, and as company pianist for Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. He has accompanied classes for La La La Human Steps, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, The Cullberg Ballet (Sweden), the Alberta Ballet and the Gala des Etoiles amongst others. Roger is an active composer, orchestrator and conductor for film and television with several big screen credits to his name. He is currently musical director with Cirque du Soleil.
