Robert Gotcher is no stranger to music. Starting back in fifth grade playing coronet in Fort Worth, Texas, he worked his way up into the upper echelons of marching band during high school. Of course, with the stigma of 'Band Weenie', Gotcher did what any normal American kid would do: He submitted to the peer pressure, dropped out of marching band, and claimed, 'Who needs this music stuff in real life anyway.' Well, as it is with any calling, Robert found himself back into the music scene in the early '90's, but this time with an acoustic guitar in his hand. In 1991, collaborating with songwriter and best friend Jeremy Blaido, Robert began writing songs about the true love of his life, Jesus. "Before I met Him, I never really had any reason to sing," declared Gotcher. Shortly after Robert and Jeremy started writing songs together, they, with a few other believers, started up a music and drama ministry called "Believe!" From 1991 to 1994 or so, they traveled from state to state sharing the love of Jesus through their original music and dramas. God's blessings were evident in the fruit that was born out of that ministry. After Believe, Gotcher began pursuing a solo 'singer/songwriter' career in 1997 by writing and performing crossover Christian material. 'It's important for a songwriter to express his/her experiences with passion, emotion, and realism,' explains Gotcher, 'and all the while connecting with his/her listeners. If I can't connect with you on some level of experience or emotion, then have I succeeded in my songwriting? I don't think so. And if I can't connect with you, then how am I ever going to share the truth and love of Jesus with you?" In 1998, Robert released his debut solo CD entitled 'Freedom', a collection of soul searching songs which capture the whole 'coffee house' sound he was so heavily into at that particular time. Later, in 2001, Gotcher released his second CD project entitled 'Trust' which carries more of a 'full band' sound. 'The 'Trust' project was really special for me,' says Gotcher, 'due to the fact that just stepping out and doing that project was a real test of faith for me.' Having been a worship leader at his home church for 3 years, Robert was being pushed to release a CD comprised primarily of his original praise and worship songs. 'After it was all said and done, I was so glad that God gave me the grace to do it,' explains Robert. 'People love it, and it gives me an opportunity to glorify the One who deserves all the credit. Thank You, Jesus!' In 2002, Gotcher formed an eclectic, acoustic-rock band called RGB (Robert Gotcher Band). Playing anywhere from singles functions at churches to bars, clubs, and festivals, RGB was out to share the love of Jesus. Currently, Robert Gotcher is, and has been for 8 years or so, a worship leader at Christ Fellowship Church in Fort Worth, TX. Leading many of his original tunes, Robert explains, "There's nothing sweeter than leading God's people into His awesome presence. I'm honored and privileged." With his eyes toward the future and his confidence in God's call on his life, Robert believes that his music will go worldwide. "Whether I'm out there myself, sharing the songs God has given me, or if God wants to share those songs through others, I'm going to dream big. I have a big God." Robert lives in Bedford, Texas with his wonderful wife, Anna and his beautiful 3 year old daughter, Nicole.
