The Sky Above: the electric side of River's two-disc sophomore release showcases the growth the band has made in every regard from songwriting, to lyrics, to improvisation and overall cohesiveness of sound. Guest musicians are frequent on The Sky Above and provide an immense palette of color and mood. RIVER began their journey in the outskirts of their hometown, Denver, CO in 1998. After years of intense practice and development, they began playing out and recorded their first release in 2002 (Self Titled) under their own label. Since then, they have expanded their borders through much of the North and South Western United States, touring extensively in their big '88 tour van affectionately known as 'The Biscuit'. They do it all themselves... from the art, to production, to 18 day grand canyon trips, to booking, to cooking, to nickel hold'em, to horseshoes to... wait... what? Anyway, they take great care in ensuring that their music can be heard by anyone that wants to listen, and that it sounds the way they want it to sound (unless of course you are still using a phonograph). If you have not had a chance to experience RIVER yet, then time is a'wastin'... check the concerts page on their website often to see when they'll be in your town next.
