Hip Hop Blues
Rising Sun (born in Syracuse, raised in Ithaca NY) is one of hip-hops most promising up and coming stars. New to the scene, this songwriter/poet/mc's powerful voice is a welcomed presence in upstate NY's underground hip-hop community. Influenced by artists such as Nas, Rakim, Tupac, Talib Kweli, Bob Marley and John Lennon, Rising Sun brings much inspiration to the art of hip hop...blues and hip hop collide as Rising Sun taps into something that lies inside us all. With a mic in his hand and passion in his heart, Sun stands for freedom and rhymes for peace in hopes of bringing the people of the globe together. With rhythm in his soul, this Ithaca NY native uses hip hop as a platform to spread a message of positivity and shine his light on the world. His rise is in motion, and his near future is looking to be meteoric. Gaining ground fast with no plans on looking back, Rising Sun's debut LP 'the Hip Hop Blues' (dropped Oct. 2005 -available @ risingsunsoul.com) is leaving it's mark in the minds of fans far and wide. Sun has stepped on stage with powerful acts such as John Brown's Body, J San and the Analogue Sons, and Thousands of One. He has performed with hip hop forces Little Egypt, Tame One, Rob Swift, Dusted Dons, Son of Nun, El Da Sensei, Sev Statik, Yak Ballz (Def Jux), Bisc 1 and more, while performing at venues from Washington D.C., to Brooklyn NY, to Northampton MA, and many places in between while touring throughout the northeast with hometown collective Cypher: Dissident on his rise to fame. Catching fire in Ithaca NY, Sun continues to shine from state to state as his fan base has grown quickly over the past two years. Rising Sun worked closely with DJ Cappel and Smitty, producers of the hit 'Blue Eyes meets Bed-Stuy' (Frank Sinatra and Notorious B.I.G mash up album), as well as local producers Nitro, Aytiayt, and JR in completing his first full length album 'the Hip Hop Blues'. The album features songs with J San (J San and the Analogue Sons), Jhakeem (Thousands of One) and JayHigh (Cypher: Dissident). He has recently been working with producers Elliot Martin and Kevin Kinsella of 'John Brown's Body', as well as J San of 'J San and the Anologue Sons', and is still making music to move to with DJ Cappel and Smitty, all of who's work can be found on his sophmore album which will be released in the summer of '07. In the meantime, 2006 will prove to be monumental as Rising Sun brings his introspective, thought provoking message to the masses. It's more than hip hop y'all...it's music. The Sun is Rising.......
