Hello. I am Rick Cuevas, a longtime San Francisco area musician/singer/songwriter/producer. This is my 13th solo album, which is entirely inspired by, and overtly dedicated to, my dear friend Benny Bussolo who lives in the lovely coastal town of Genoa, Italy. Benny has 'daydream13' within her longer email name, and I thought that would be a cool and appropriate album title. Further, I have heard that the number 13 is considered lucky in Italy. So there's a complex 13-thing going on here. Every song is either about my friendship with Benny, or it's about the city she lives in, or just some song based on her statements, or any combination of all those things. Benny has inspired other recent songs of mine, and I didn't always specify or acknowledge which ones. But this time I wanted to do an entire work for her, about her, and what the unconditional friendship means to me/us. Additionally, being half Italian myself, I am enjoying this Italo-Euro-13-ism thing... and I hope you do, too. I made this album in a relatively short period of time; just like The Rutles: 'The first album took 20 minutes, the second one took even longer.' For instance, I just recently released my solo album number 12, 'We Got Stories' (which took nine months to complete), which I finished in September of 2008. Now, I already have this album number 13 in October/November 2008. The album was completed within the month of October 2008. All songs were written and recorded fairly quickly, and they are presented here in the order in which they came to me. Album mastering was designated 'finished' on 31 October. Anyway! Enjoy the spacey, euro-fun-centric nature of the music on this new album 13.
