Hey Everybody! Here's the thing, I have a very diverse taste in music. I like all types of music, but the best in each genre - or, at least what I perceive to be the best! Some of my favorites are Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, The Eagles and Ozzy Osbourne. My favorite rock group is the Cult. My all-time favorite band is the Rolling Stones. The older they get, the better they get!!! Anyway, I started playing the guitar because of the Beatles back in 1964. Then, I got into the Stones, the Animals, Hollies, you name it - the British Invasion. But, along the way, there was folk-rock - one of my favorites - the Byrds. Then, I really got into the psychadelic music of the late '60's, the Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Iron Butterfly, Spirit, Love and early Steve Miller with Boz Scaggs in the band. About the same time, I really got into the NY sound of the Young Rascals and the Vanilla Fudge. But, the two groups that influenced me the most as a guitarist up to that point were the Yardbirds - of course, they had Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page pass through - and the Who. When Jimi Hendrix and Cream hit, I just dove head-first into it. I still haven't recovered from that. The next big thing was Led Zeppelin. Somehow, so far ahead of any band that it was almost inconceivable. The live sound of Led Zeppelin in 1969 left you speechless. Well, from there, it was creating my own style and my own sound. From my first original band in the 1970's, Bungi, to Stories (Brother Louie #1 hit) to Starz and later Hellcats. I recorded many albums of original music. Very rarely did I ever do a cover version of any song. But, now, I'm doing a tribute to some of my favorite songs and artists. I'm very happy with my song selection and hope you like them too! These are songs that I love to listen to by the original artists and love to perform live with my band. As you can hear, I'm doing songs that range from country music to hard rock. But, I think you'll like it! Let me know!! Richie Ranno April, 2004 Jimi Hendrix, Freddie Mercury, George Harrison, Johnny Cash & Rick Danko - You are immortal!
