Along the Way
'Along The Way' was officially released in September of 2009. The album was recorded at Mad Oak Studios in Allston MA and engineered/co-produced by the talented Benny Grotto, (Aerosmith, The Dresden Dolls, Joe Perry). The album took a little over a year to make, from pre-production to the merch table, and was regarded as one of the best albums that Mastering engineer Jeff Lipton had heard in 2009! Along The Way has tracks that span from just Piano & Vocals, to a full 9 piece band with horns, female vocalists, mandolin and more! For Richard James' first album, it is a very solid piece of work. Sonically the album sounds amazing, and the performances on each track by each individual musicians came out flawless. The album takes you for a ride from the first singer songwriter track 'Along The Way', to a bluesy New Orleans number entitled 'I Tried', to an electronic jam called 'Smooth Mediocrity', followed by the vocally highlighted ballad, 'Josephine', to a jazzed out funk instrumental called Chauncys Voyage, and ending with the fan favorite, 'The Future'. If you like a mixture of genres and well put together music, this an album you should definitely check out and tell your music loving friends about!
