All About Love
I was 15 when I first performed some of the songs on this CD in public - just me and the piano. I was hooked! I started a jazz quintet in high school and, in college, with other cast members from a production of "The Fantastiks," formed a vocal/instrumental jazz group. Over the next six years we appeared on network television, opened for major acts in Las Vegas and recorded under the RCA label. Disheartened by the unfulfilled promises of fame and fortune, I escaped the L. A. music scene in 1971 and moved to the mountains of Northern California with my wife and year old daughter. As a musician and composer I continued to participate in various musical projects but supporting a growing family, now including a son, meant leaving the music career behind to make an "honest" living. A "life changing" event in 1999 reminded me of the importance of music in my life. I rearranged my priorities and began playing and singing again on a regular basis. With no intention other than the occasional entertainment of friends, I was content to focus on honing my craft and building a repertoire. Not long after, some friends gave me the opportunity to perform one night a week at their bistro. Now, three years later, it continues to be a highlight of my week and the overwhelmingly positive response is what inspired this CD. So here it is! I hope you like it. It truly is "All About Love": my love for singing and playing, my love for this music - it's harmonies and well crafted melodies and lyrics - but most importantly, the love of those who support and encourage my efforts and my love for them. This CD is dedicated to all of you. It's just me and the piano!
