Product notities

This album has been highly prasied in the indie folk music world: 'The mark of a good CD is that you can remember what stretch of highway you were on when you heard a given song. I was on Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania, at about mile 279, when I first heard 'River Wash Away.' -Peter Mulvey "Many thanks for your CD. I'm really enjoying it a lot. I particularly love 'He's a Physicist'! Great song and I love the production on the whole CD, really great sound and songs! -Claudia Schmidt "I love this album! I was drawn in from the very beginning by the upbeat "Come On In" - a great tune wth superb instrumentation. I've heard many of the songs before in live performance. It was wonderful to hear them all put together. Seth Connelly's arrangements are impeccable. Richard's voice is full of enthusiasm and joy in what he is doing. His love of music is always apparent! All of the instruments and vocal harmonies fit perfectly! The album has a very live feel to it, as if everyone was right in the room." -Ellen Schmidt Musicians Rich Eilbert - lead vocal and rhythm guitar Seth Connelly - electric bass Matt Leavenworth - violin Rick Goode - lead guitar Stuart Ervin - mandolin Don Croad - drums Phip & Jackie Wheelock - harmony vocals Sista D - steel drums and vocal harmonies Hatrack Gallagher - harmonica 1. Come On In I wrote this song in half an hour, just before one of our Sunday brunch and jam sessions. I love the sentiment. 2. River Wash Away This song was inspired by the tragic river flood of October 2005, which devastated the town of Alstead, New Hampshire. Inevitably, the destruction wrought by recent hurricanes got tangled into the imagery. 3. Back from the War War takes a dreadful toll of those who suffer it's indignities. I got the idea for this song by misreading a handwritten note Nancy had left on the couch. Straight from the unconscious. 4. He's a Physicist I wrote this song on my birthday to compensate for the un-sexual stereotypes that our society places on scientists. The head and the heart ultimately must work together. Being a physicist, the allusions in this song came easily. 5. Down on Your Luck All about that stuck-up brat in high school that we love to hate -with a bluegrass twist. 6. Going Back to LA I never lived in LA, but my relatives settled there after I'd left home. In a sense, it's my home away from home. 7. Now and Forever An upbeat tune dedicated to Nancy as a make-up for the many love-gone-wrong songs I've written. Special thanks to Sista D. for the steel drum and harmony tracks that makes the calypso beat come alive. 8. Ocean of Sand A dream provided the initial impetus for this song. Then it took a abrupt turn into a tirade about the dangers from leaders who suffer from the Rambo delusion. 9. Whydah A true story about a real pirate ship, the only verified pirate shipwreck recovered in U.S. waters. Barry Clifford led the expedition in 1984 applying new technology and succeeding where many others had failed. I later learned that John F. Kennedy, Jr. took part in the early search phases. 10. Roadblock No fun being stuck in a traffic jam. It was therapeutic to work out my frustration in this rock and rock tune. 11. Hauling Ice A true story describing FEMA's $100,000,000 boondoggle of inefficiency that occurred in the aftermath of Katrina. We can do better. 12. Small Crime I think we all have gotten away with some petty-ante thievery, or worse. If we are judged in the hereafter, let's hope the bar is not set too high.
