Out of the Hole
Darrin DeBard and Andrew Vaughn represent the new wave of independent musicians in today's ever changing technological music industry. The two not only created their own label (Meyvn Records LLC), but exhibit their love for music and talents as The Rhymlicks on their debut CD release 'Out of the Hole' literally from the basement of Darrin's house. 'Out of the Hole' represents not only the financial situations the duo find themselves trying to get out of, but literally where the majority of the album was manifested (in Darrin's basement a/k/a 'The Hole'). The two have combined their love for all genre's of music to create a product that appeals to white, black, old, and young. 'Out of the Hole' goes back to rock n' roll roots with power chord driven guitars and salt n' pepper leads, but adds the electronic element of synthesizer, along with Vaughn's hip-hop lyrical style to give listeners the classic feel that everyone loves along with something innovative and contemporary. The group has known each other all of Andrew's life, since Darrin was jamming in bands in the 80's with Andrew step-father and father. Years later DeBard saw Vaughn performing with one of his bands and approached him about possibly writing some lyrics for his instrumentals. Vaughn was impressed by DeBard's music so much he asked him to come up with music for some of the lyrics he had already written. The two have gelled ever since and it all comes 'Out of the Hole.' The Rhymlicks do it all. Not only do they write and produce all of their music, they also mastered it, designed all the art work for the CD along with their website. In a industry full of big corporations force feeding patrons music, The Rhymlicks do their own thing, their own way, for the love of it. The way it used to be.
