Here in the Country
About Redman Live - Hank Redman - vocals, guitar, keyboards Blessed with a true country voice, audiences love Hank's spot on yet heartfelt vocals. He moves from tearjerker ballads to rockin country uptempos with ease. Hank grew up in the small town of Forest, Ont. He had a gift for music from a very young age. First he played the piano, then drums and various band instruments, and finally the guitar. He started singing in high school in musicals, a jazz quartet and many rock bands. After graduating from the musical theatre program at Sheridan College he finally discovered his true calling and has been songwriting and performing country music since 1994. Julie Cutler - vocals, keyboards Julie has often been described as a true singer, and her award winning songs touch on every subject and emotion. She has great stage presence and really knows how to connect with an audience. Julie has been writing and performing as long as she can remember, having her first gig at age 13. She took piano lessons for many years, and studied voice throughout high school and college. Julie is a graduate of the Musical Theatre program at Sheridan College. About the CD - This is real music, by real people. What all great country CDs should be. This really could be called the best of Redman Live because it includes all of our greatest hits since we began writing together over 12 years ago. Old favourites like You're So Bad and A Father's Love and new hits like But I Will and Lucky Girl. It is a collection of our best country tunes. Great uptempos and beautiful ballads with topics ranging from funny bar stories to stories about life and even a couple of love songs thrown in. No pickup trucks or dead dogs, although there is some drinking. All the songs we have chosen are not only favorites of ours, they are audience favorites as well. This CD was made with you in mind. The Musicians - Shane Guse - A most impressive fiddle player who has recorded and toured with everyone who is anyone in Canadian Country music. He is currently on tour with George Canyon. Nick Czarnogorski - Bass player currently on tour with Canadian Country star Johnny Reid. He has worked with so many artists of varying styles, but Colin Amey and Jason McCoy are 2 of the big country acts he played with. This guy could read my mind. Colin Robinson - Such a great drummer that the Blue Man Group recently paid to relocate him to Orlando, Florida to drum in their new show at Universal Studios. We feel so fortunate that he was able to play on our CD before he left. Max Bent - Lead electric and slide guitar. Famous for his own Blues music, Max works constantly with so many local and famous artists. Country artists of note are George Canyon and Aaron Pritchett Hank Redman and Julie Cutler - Of course we still contributed acoustic guitar, keyboards, all the vocals and wrote all the songs. Behind The Scenes - The Studio - Much of this CD was recorded in our own Redman Live Studios, but the drums, bass and mandolin were recorded by engineering wizard Vikas Kholi at FatLabs. Check out his client list. He works with all different kinds of music. We learned so much from him. (crossfade) Photography - We had lots of photoshoots at different locations, with different looks all captured by photographer Joseph Michael. While it's no challenge to make us sound good, it is a challenge to make us look good, but this guy was well up to the task. These are some great photos. Graphic Design - While we certainly had a hand in designing the kind of CD package we wanted (lots of cool photos, full lyrics included) we handed over all our ideas to the pros at Healey TMS to make sure it had that truely professional look we wanted. Mastering - A crucial step that many artists overlook. This puts independent CDs on par with the big boys as far as final sound quality goes, and for this we turned to the pros at Metalworks. They are one of the best studios in Canada. For those of you not familiar with this studio, everyone from Bruce Springsteen to Prince; Christina Agulera to Nelly Furtado have recorded at this studio. This CD stands up to any out there on the market today.
