Old & New 1978 to 2005
The Reaction defines Musical Physics! For every Reaction, there's an equally hardhitting new Reaction! Here's a neat story! A band rides the cutting edge in the Newfoundland punk/new wave/fusion scene during the late 70s; they record heavily but most material remains unreleased; band gets on with other things; 25 years later, fan asks members of the band about the old recordings; fan insists old band get back into the studio to record brand new CD and release it along with the old stuff. The result: The Reaction: 'Old and New' a remastered version of all the old stuff and a new CD with the heavy new stuff The background: Before the days of independent recordings, touring and marketing, The Reaction broke ground that bands today think as commonplace. Formed in St. John's Newfoundland in late 1978 Mike Fisher, Rick Harbin & Terry Carter used the fledgling punk/new wave medium to get the band noticed. Dan Ralph replaced Terry Carter not too much later and, over 3 years, the The Reaction quickly grew beyond the punk label - expanding to metal and fusion and euro- techno sounds of the day (later adding Steve Jackson on Keyboards). The Reaction released only one 45 rpm single: 'On The Beach/The Kid's Arrived', However, the band recorded 50 minutes of music. Songs like 'In Tune with The Times' and 'Till Midnight' became regional radio hits but were never released on record. Now that music is available on CD for the 1st time!
