Layers of Love
An accomplished Memphis TN musician and singer, Ray accompanies himself on the piano or leads a group playing either keyboards or bass guitar. The multi-talented baritone has been compared to a younger Lou Rawls, George Benson or Bobby Short. Although he appreciates the comparison, Ray says, 'I'm really just Ray Glover, and I am pleased that audiences seem to like what they see and hear.' Ray has performed with internationally known artists, including the late Peter 'Memphis Slim' Chatman, and Rufus and Carla Thomas. He has received many honors in his hometown; singing with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, playing every major music festival, and being the Memphis Arts Council's first Artist in Residence. Entertaining for the world has taken Ray to 19 countries in Europe, Scandinavia, the Far East and Africa. Ray opened the renovated palace, La Mamounia Hotel, Marrakesh, Morocco. His last overseas tour took him to Tiffany's New York Bar at the Grand Standford Harbor View in Tsimshatsui, Hong Kong, and the Pink Elephant Jazz & Piano Bar at the Hotel Post, Zermatt, Switzerland. While in Switzerland, Ray enjoyed the opportunity to play with Phil Collins for the VIP pre-festival parties given by Claude Nobs, producer of the Montreux Jazz Festival. Since his return to America, he has performed for Fitzgerald's Casino, Robinsonville, MS., the French Quarter Suites Hotel in Memphis, Main Street Station & Casino, the Mirage Hotel & Casino,the Treasure Island Hotel & Casino, The Ritz Carlton Hotel & Casino,and Pieros Restaurant in Las Vegas, NV. He is currently performing at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino and the New York New York Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
